ENJOYING LIFE
Christians should be people who know how to enjoy life. Every good gif, including laughter, friendship, family, food, beauty, rest, adventure… is ultimately a gift from God. Following Jesus isn’t about enduring life until heaven; it’s about receiving each day with gratitude, joy, and purpose. We don’t worship the gifts, but we should certainly enjoy them and thank the Giver. As Scripture says, God “richly provides us with everything to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17).
ENJOYING LIFE
John 15:11 (ESV)
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
WITH JESUS
In John 17:24 Jesus prayed, “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me...” There is, no doubt there is lots to “do” in this world, but it starts with learning to “be”. The heart of God is revealed in His desire for you to just be with Him. It’s in learning to be with Jesus that our hearts are captured by His love and our lives are transformed. It pulls us out of the religious performance trap that we easily fall into and helps us rest and walk in His grace.
WITH JESUS
Revelation 3:20 (ESV)
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
WITH OTHERS
Over 50 times, the New Testament refers to “one another.” The reality is that we cannot become the disciple Jesus is asking us to become without others. By design, we were meant to walk this journey with others. Who you do life with will shape and mold who you become. Your commitment to a local church body is not just for your sake, but also for the sake of that church!
WITH OTHERS
Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV)
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
FOR OTHERS
Jesus not only taught but modeled the importance of living life for the sake of others. Every day we are presented with opportunities to show others who Jesus is by our willingness to serve and help meet the needs of the lost, the sick, and hungry and the hurting. The church is the only organization on earth that exists for the sake of its non-members as well as its members. We ask ourselves on a regular basis, “If BCCC ceased to exist, would anybody but us really care?”
FOR OTHERS
Mark 10:45 (ESV)
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
