Our Core Values
Our Mission is target… it’s what we are aiming for everyone who joins our family. Our Core Values are the way we get there. They are the principles that guide us and fuel us to ENJOY LIFE WITH JESUS, WITH OTHERS, AND FOR OTHERS.
GOD’S Word (2 Timothy 3:14-17) Reading the Scriptures is not a way to meet an obligation. It is a way to meet God. Boulder Creek Community Church has endured for many years in part because its leaders have always relied on the Bible as its true north. People come and go, buildings eventually fall apart, music styles change, but the one constant has been a commitment to teach as best we can in a clear and relevant way what the Bible says so that the people can know and enjoy God.
GRACE Oriented (Hebrews 4:16; Ephesians 2:8-9) Grace means we emphasize God’s
unconditional love and full forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We hope to motivate people through love and gratefulness rather than guilt, shame, and duty. We begin by grace, are sustained by grace, and finished by grace. Grace fosters a welcoming atmosphere where everyone is welcomed, but it does not mean we allow a permissive atmosphere, cheap grace, where we do not challenge and confront sin in a loving way.
GOSPEL Centered (Romans 1:16) The gospel is the power of God for Salvation. This
means that God’s love and gift of salvation is not earned… it’s received! Understanding the gospel frees us from the burden of trying to earn God’s acceptance, and empowers us to enjoy God and be the people who God designed us to be. It’s the Good News!
GROWTH Expectant (I Peter 2:2; Ephesians 4:15; Romans 8:29; Colossians 3:10) The goal of the Christian life is to be conformed into the image of Christ for the sake of others. Spiritual formation is expected and natural for someone who has been made new by God’s grace. We desire to be a church that encourages and provides avenues for people to grow in their faith.
GENUINE Lives (I Timothy 1:15; I Timothy 1:5; 2 Corinthians 1:12) We desire to be a
community of people living authentically before God and others, speaking the truth in love.
GROUP Focus (Acts 2:42-47) We are committed to small group ministry as one of the most effective means of building relationships, stimulating spiritual growth, and developing leaders. We are also committed to doing ministry in teams. Isolation is never healthy for the follower of Jesus or the leader of God’s people.
GIFT Based (Romans 12:6-9; I Peter 4:10) It starts for us with leaders that are gifted,
empowered, and committed to serving the body by equipping others to know and use their gifts. Every believer has at least one gift and is encouraged to use that gift for the sake of others. We are committed to nurturing and developing our gifts.
GENERATIONALLY Diverse (1 John 2:12-14) We are committed to being a church
that both honors and grows believers of all ages. We believe we will be a stronger and healthier
church with people of all ages engaged with one another, serving as one and worshiping together.
GENEROUSLY Responsive (Matthew 25:21; James 1:27) We desire to be a church
that lives out their faith generously with our time, talents, and treasure. We believe that people should give generously out of a heart touched by the grace of God.
GO Missional (Matthew 28:19-20) Because people matter to God, we are committed to being a church that focuses on loving, serving, and helping the unchurched both around the world and across the street, to see, hear, and experience the love of God. Every follower of Jesus is a missionary.
